The ARTEC series of astrographs represents a technological breakthrough in the world of astrophotography, thanks to cutting-edge production techniques and premium-grade optics.
The ARTEC project was initiated in 2011 from an idea by Stefano Seveso, owner of Artesky, and was developed with the support of engineer Flavio Simeone. This series was designed for the most demanding astrophotographers, those in search of a telescope that offers stable collimation, high-end optics, and consistent image quality.
To achieve these goals, ARTEC was conceived not merely as a standalone telescope, but as an integrated component within a complex imaging system. After more than a decade of development and design enhancements, the ARTEC series continues to evolve through ongoing research into new technologies and engineering solutions.

Designed for the Mobile Astrophotographer
The ARTEC 200 is a 200mm Newtonian astrograph, entirely designed and manufactured in Italy using top-quality materials. It is the ideal instrument to enter the ARTEC world, offering exceptional stability, portability, and ease of collimation.
This astrograph uses a classic Newtonian optical design with a native focal ratio of f/4.0, featuring a quartz parabolic primary mirror, aluminized and coated to provide reflectivity above 95%, with the same treatment applied to the secondary mirror.
Thanks to its compact size and lightweight structure, the ARTEC 200 is perfect for traveling astrophotographers in search of dark skies. The mechanical precision ensures stable collimation, making it a serious alternative to common refractors or Cassegrain systems.
High-Quality Optics
ARTEC astrographs employ optics that match the mechanical precision of the instrument. Key specifications include:
- Reflectivity greater than 95%
- Surface correction of λ/8 or better
- Strehl ratio of 0.95 or higher
The ARTEC 200 comes with a 1.14x coma corrector, increasing the focal length to 912mm and resulting in an effective focal ratio of f/4.5, with an illuminated field of 55mm.
The conical quartz primary mirror ensures exceptional thermal behavior by minimizing mass and eliminating lateral shifts, thereby optimizing focus stability during long sessions.
Advanced Mechanics
The ARTEC series is designed using advanced optical and mechanical CAD software, ensuring extreme structural rigidity.
All metal components are crafted from 6061 aluminum, CNC-machined and laser-cut for high precision, collimation reliability, and ease of use.
Key mechanical advantages of the ARTEC 200:
- Stable focusing across temperature variations, reducing the need for repeated adjustments
- Laser-cut stainless steel secondary support for superior rigidity and alignment
- Specialized anodization for unmatched resistance to adverse weather conditions
- Generous back focus to ensure compatibility with a wide range of accessories and remote imaging setups
The ARTEC 200 is equipped with the PegasusAstro Prodigy 3" electronic focuser, specially modified to handle up to 9.5 kg of load with no flex or torsion.
The included R.O.A.S. (Rotation On Axis System) enables precise manual rotation of the imaging train, ensuring perfect planarity. The system supports custom-made adapters and comes with a standard M54x0.75 male thread.
ASIAIR Compatibility
For users looking for a fully integrated experience, the ARTEC 200EZ version is available with full ASIAIR compatibility.
High-End Carbon Fiber Structure
The tube of the ARTEC 200 is made of premium carbon fiber, selected not for weight savings but for its thermal stability and structural rigidity.
The carbon used comes from an Italian company specialized in automotive and aerospace composites. It is solid carbon fiber (not foam-core sandwich), autoclave treated, and finished with a matte external coating after final polishing.
The interior of the tube is treated with:
- Dust-repellent coating
- Anti-reflective black matte surface
- Rough finish to prevent condensation
