This universal flattener is suitable for most of Takahashi's double-lens fluorite optics. Thanks to different camera adapters (CA rings, see above), the best possible correction is achieved for every telescope. It replaces the FS-60 flattener (TKA20582) and the FC-76D flattener (TKA18582). Compared to these predecessors, the image circle is slightly larger and the correction at the edge is also better, which is why these small optics are now also suitable for full-frame use. But it is not only at the edge of the field of view that progress has been made; the overall correction is better, and stars in the center of the image are also rendered more sharply.
The flattener extends the focal length minimally by a factor of 1.04x. The optics consist of two lenses, which are of course multi-coated. The image circle has a diameter of 44 mm on the FS-60CB, FC-76D, and FC-100D. When used with other devices, it may be slightly smaller, but not less than 40 mm. It is not suitable for the Sky-90 and FOA-60! There are several different CA rings, which means that this flattener can be used on around 20 telescopes in the FC, FCT, and FS series.
The connection on the telescope side is an M56x0.75 internal thread, while on the camera side it is an M52x0.75 external thread. We recommend the Takahashi Camera Rotator CAA-1 for mounting on the telescope, but this cannot be used with the FS-60C (longer tube); here, the flattener is screwed directly onto the focuser. To mount a DSLR camera, you need Wide T mount FS-60CB bayonet rings.
If you want to connect a CCD camera, we recommend the M52nM48p adapter, which converts to an M48x0.75 external thread. It also allows the attachment of filter wheels or off-axis guiders, and the M48T2 adapter makes it easy to connect to the T2 thread.
