This apo offers more aperture and focal length than the smaller Esprit-EDX, using a triplet objective with an APO element made of Japanese Ohara FPL53. The apo is designed for astrophotography as well as for visual observation. It is not very usable for mobile astronomy and better suited for an observatory. With the # 20190 flattener, the Esprit-150 becomes an imaging system with a flat field of view, with the # 20096 0.77x reducer/flattener a powerful astrograph with f/5.39. The ESPRIT has a 360° rotator built into the eyepiece side, allowing perfect orientation of the camera to the object. The focuser itself, a 3" version, can also be rotated.
