Design Goals

The Delos eyepiece series was conceived as a narrower field, longer eye relief Tele Vue Ethos eyepiece. Reducing the field to 72° allowed freedom to increase eye-relief to 20 mm while controlling pupil aberrations, all without making the eyepiece too large. With Ethos performance standards as benchmarks, the Delos design achieves full field sharpness, virtually perfect ƒθ (theta) distortion mapping, and color neutrality. Image contrast is maximized utilizing glass matched multi-coatings, anti-reflection surfaces throughout the eyepiece, and an adjustable height eye guard.

24mm Delos

The new 24mm Delos model meets the same design goals plus features 22 mm of eye relief. While ideal for eyeglass wearers, the easily adjustable, locking eye guard is included for those who don’t wear eyeglasses. Correct positioning of the eye guard helps position your eye pupil to the telescope’s exit pupil, as well as blocks contrast-robbing stray light from interfering with the view, plus it mitigates dew formation on the eyelens. The 24mm Delos is a 2” model only and is parfocal with most other Tele Vue 1¼” eyepieces when they are used with Tele Vue’s “HiHat” 2” to 1¼” adapter (ASF-8125).
